Dear Sirs
I was happy when my mother decided to move to Wimborne House, Sycamore Road, Farnborough because I understood there would be a resident manager who would be able to deal with emergencies and assist with the day to day problems experienced by residents. However, I understand Wimborne House has not been afforded a resident manager for many weeks but instead, residents need to phone a call centre in the case of need.
From my experience of managing a retirement complex, I am fully aware that residents need to be assured that they have a friendly, well known member of staff able to tend to their needs.
Residents are often reluctant to call for assistance via a call centre, there are problems with helpers getting access to the establishment, thereby putting unnecessarily pressure on the caller.
i fully understand that there are times when a manager is on leave and a locum manager needs to cover but i believe Sanctuary Housing Association is failing to provide the 24 hour care as advertised on your website.
Furthermore, i believe Wimbourn House no longer has sufficient laundry facilities, bearing in mind that many of the residents have carers who need to launder daily due to some residents who are incontinent.
i would therefore ask you to look into the facilities and management of this retirement home and more importantly, refrain from mentioning my name because i fear my mother may receive unwelcomed response.
