Michael is most certainly NOT a professional painter and decorator judging by the work he did in our house.

In April 2015 we employed Michael to decorate the interior of our home. A small job.. He has left it a shambles. We now have to have it completely repainted. Not only that but he has actually caused additional work by getting paint on the tops of new kitchen cupboard doors, light fittings and door furniture. The white skirting boards are covered in splashes of paint from the walls. The doors still show through their original colour.

After completing the work and receiving a snagging list detailing various issues of poor workmanship, he emailed to say he was walking away from the job. He blamed us for not liking the colour and he blamed various streaks of uneven cutting in on a weird paint drying phenomena, he has since refused to communicate further. I think it's worth pointing out that someone who feels they have completed a professional job in good faith, does not walk away from £1200 worth of work and materials by only bothering to reply to the review left on the Checkatrade website.

Based on the work completed in my home, Michael can't paint in a straight line, he doesn't sand, fill or prep the walls or screw holes at all, just slaps paint over everything - including bookshelves which WERE removable - they are now stuck with paint to the walls, and the top ones weren't actually painted. He has got paint on the kitchen cupboard doors, light fittings and switches, and doesn't remove any door furniture, the cat flap, door chain etc, just paints around or over it.

Michael is a despicable human being in my opinion. He pretends to be friendly and honest - showing you scans of his forthcoming baby and mentioning his liver illness so you feel sorry for him and guilty at complaining. The truth is though that I stupidly believed the Checkatrade website and I trusted him in our home by himself when his work is so poor I could have done better myself.

Anyone wanting photos of his work prior to contracting him for any decorating is welcome to contact me. Hopefully I can save someone else from the stress of employing Michael Fryer of MJF Painting and Decorating.
