This firm was sent to fix my central heating by under insurance sold by Lloyds Bank Home Emergency insurance cover and administered by CET.

I make no attempt to influence a decision to employ them or not, but these are the bald facts.

ADM sent a man the day after I reported the heating u/s. He identified the problem as a faulty motorised 3 way valve. Said he would have to get authorisation to replace it.

I heard nothing for about six days and after another call to the insurance people, a different man came from Aquarius - with the wrong valve. He went away and obtained the proper valve fairly quickly.

The system was partly drained and old valve was removed - just 3 olive union pipe connections.

I requested that as the system was already drained that he replace the inhibitor which he did and charged me £30 for 1 litre of "Center central heating inhibitor" which I paid for by cheque.

As the system had to be drained, there was no "labour" attached to replacing the inhibitor other than pouring it via an air bleed valve into an already empty heated towel rail.

I later found that this very same product was retailed locally for £9.50 ( possibly less trade ) so I was charged £20.50 more than I should have been. The new valve was fitted but he didn`t have a clue as to how to re-connect it electrically.

After a couple of hours during which he blew 3 fuses and tripped out the consumer unit three times, he gave up and left saying he only knew basic electrics and that I would have to get an electrician.

Been without heating for a week at the coldest time so far this year when temperatures were dropping below freezing.

Contacted the insurers again. Sent an electrician, - not from ADM. Said the job would be booked for an "all day" - did nothing and went away.

Several days later, been without heating for 15 days. Another different electrician turned up re-connected the valve but found that the timer unit had failed possibly due to the previous abortive attempts to connect it.

15 days after reporting the fault - fitted a new timer. System now working properly.

Grossly overcharged for inhibitor, several days wasted stuck in house whilst waiting for people to turn up, without heating for 15 days in freezing weather and for a job which should have taken not much more than an hour.
