I am a 62 year old woman. I attended Clevedon Hospital following a fall. My right knee was grossly swollen and painful and I was experiencing pain in my hips The nurse ( she did not seem to be a qualified nurse) asked me to bend my knee. When I did she stated " Well you are not going to have an X-ray. If it was broken, you would not be bending your knee." I was dismissed.
A week later I had a private consultation and an X-ray. The knee was fractured.

A month later, following a fall ( due to the fractured knee) I returned to the hospital with a dislocated right arm. I saw the same 'nurse'. She told me she did not think my arm was dislocated and that it was probably my posture. (This is despite me being in absolute agony) She then stated " I don't think it's dislocated but I suppose you would want an X-ray. You would need to go to the BRI or Weston Hospital. Get a friend to take you or hire a taxi." I was dismissed.
I called a friend. I was in so much pain, I thought I was going into shock. My friend took me to Weston Hospital. X-rays were done. I was informed it was a bad dislocation. My arm was re-set.
