The most impressive development seen to date. I was pleased to advise my colleagues in the Environment Agency and DEFRA and the many other Companies that we work with that the professionalism of Mytum and Selby in their business case was second to none.

It is apparently going to be developed to make the renewable fuels ethanol and butanol for road transport which is well-thought out and a recognition by the managing director Steve Carrie that this is the ONLY WAY forward that has the potential to reduce the whole waste arisingd to be near the optimum of Zero Waste to Land Fill. As I understand they intend to use a process route that makes the equivalent thermal routes look hopelessly expensive and we wonder why any right-minded waste authority should or would contemplate ever doing anything else.

Making these biofuels from the organic waste fits in so nicely with the composting plant that there is an overlap of ideals for thy wmploy the same front-ended processing - a major benefir - and the back procvessing is but a formality. Indeed this issue of making the biofuels from the organic from wastes (it could also include farm wastes as well as food production and drinks wastes in addition to the organics from municipal solid waste, and dare we say sewage sludge and manures) is the ultimate successful option. This would mean that Mytum and Selby Recycling Limited would be able to get in to the highest league of final treatment systems and overtake those that use the boring and so out-dated incineration process routes. Good for them.

I note that when passing through the area that the Company has another site in Goole ready to start operating and that this would be an ideal second project site to make even more renewable fuels.

It looks to us that Steve Carrie ha cenebted his Company in to the growing area to provide biofuels from non-food based organic materials (that is from waste arisings rather than specific crops grown for the purpose on farm land that has been conveniently transferred to growing crops. It also means that the development is not triggeref by importing wood wastes from across the Atlantics or from the Tropical and Arboreal Forests where the costs of importing such wood will now sky-rocket to over £300-00 per tonne as the coal-burning power stations decide to move towards burning this wood to make power, or to the alternative of these ridiculous biomass burning power plants we see blossoming in the UK from Derry to Wales and Scotland to the South and South West purely to be a mechanism to make money for the investers.

From.what we have seen here the owners the Carries are ahead of the gane by years and we will visit their sites again as we hear that they are developing this renewable fuels p[rogramme.
