I advise anyone not to use this ‘Trusted Trader’! Why? Well this is what happened to me. In the middle of last year (2013) I rang 3 roofers to come and give me advice about my roof as it was leaking. One didn’t turn up, the other didn’t appear to know what he was looking at and the 3rd was Ashbrook Roofing and Supplies. Dave Ashbrook, the owner of the company, turned up and said he would recommend a new roof. I received the quote and accepted it in August. After a fortnight of not hearing anything, I rang and was told someone would be in touch. After still not hearing anything at the beginning of October (either the 3rd or 4th I’m not sure), I rang again and a gentleman told me he would speak with Dave Ashbrook himself when he was next in. I waited until the 7th October and then rang Dave Ashbrook on his mobile. He said he hadn’t forgotten but had been busy and said he would ring me nearer the time. By the 24th October – again nothing – so I sent a text. Nothing heard until receiving a text at 10.16am on 11th November saying “Just to let you know we will be with you tomorrow (Tuesday 12th Nov) to put up the scaffolding” I thought at last and the next morning made sure the driveway was clear. On coming home from work that evening and, you’ve guessed it. No scaffolding up! I rang the Darley Dale office at Matlock straight away to be told by the lady who answered saying that there weren’t many lads that turned up that morning! She advised me to ring Dave Ashbrook direct which I did. His response was that he hadn’t received a text back from me so thought I was away or in hospital. I told him there and then that I didn’t want to proceed anymore with him. I was angry that I had wasted 4 months and time also spent on several phone calls, as well as the constant leak every time it rained. I had a local guy come, NOT a Trusted Trader, lovely bloke. Sorted the problem out in a couple of hours and charged me £30! So don’t trust the Trusted Trader listings, ask around and use someone your friends, family or neighbours have had. Just don’t use Ashbrook Roofing and Supplies at Darley Dale – or Trusted Trader!
