After sales service practically non existent, shoddy workmanship, cheap materials, poor quality for the money paid.
Bathroom radiators put in upside down, four serious internal leaks, electrical problems, plumbing problems, windows don’t open fully on top floor of my three storey house, owing to a brick parapet wall with coping stones being built in front of them! Every excuse under the sun, not to fix problems, directors rude, arrogant and can’t be bothered, once you’ve paid your money.
One even personally insulted me for complaining about a blocked wc. Boiler breakdown after moving in for three months, damp issues in the garage.
No filter on the boiler and one radiator not even working due to shoddy workmanship and every single chrome bathroom radiator fitted upside down! I could go on..a total rip off, they take your money, cut corners and run, the after sales lady is about as much use as a ice cream salesman in the North Pole, no common sense at all, no urgency or willingness to fix the problem, she couldn’t care less! Really bad experience, don’t make the same mistake I did! Avoid.

If I could put zero stars I would. I have heard every single excuse possible from this company; excuses as poor as 'my dog ate my homework' equivalent. The contracts manager, Gary Smith, in my opinion is an utter cowboy; similarly the construction director, Paul English is of his calibre. They ignore your calls and emails; they try to blame any issues on any fault but their own; their builders have made threats and got violent in front of my two year old daughter, when their poor work has been challenged, the police had to get involved; and there are works still outstanding from almost 2 years ago.

I am not sure how these cowboys sleeps at night, but avoid them like a plague. They are by far the worst developers out of all. Small, cheap, low quality, lazy developer. Please do not make the same mistake we made

I have never experience such an unhelpful and ignorant company as Matthew Homes.. We were hoping to purchase one of their properties, but they were just so inconsiderate and their attitude to their customers is unacceptable.. didn't return calls, unfriendly company from site agent to their head office staff.
The property we wanted is still standing empty after they withdrew from our Purchase three months ago..
We are now proceeding with another property and have kept our buyers through out...
We feel we had a lucky escape...

I have had a similar issue with a Matthew homes property. Like previously stated the after sales care is disgusting. I even gave my house key over to the site office for work to be completed yet the work wasn't done.

After 8 weeks of having my key I asked for it back to be told they don't know where it is!!!!

I'm still waiting for work to be completed, they can't even ring or communicate to sat when things are likely to be done!! Disgraceful doesn't even cut it

I sent an email over 2 months ago to what they claim to be the after sales department yet had to go to the NHBC to get a response from the site office and yet still haven't received acknowledgment of my letters and emails.

I would avoid a Matthew Homes house like the plague! Their after sales service is diabolical. They have your money, so do they care? No!

As a previous review mentions, it's virtually impossible to get any response to reported issues or problems and if you are lucky enough to get a contractor to come back, they will reinforce how bad the company and service are by 1. Telling you themselves, and 2. By actually making the initial problem worse.

I had problems with plastering and with electrics. The electrician even admitted he knew it had been wired incorrectly first time round by one of his team but it had not been fixed!! He tried to fix my problem but only made it worse. Despite countless letters, messages and phonecalls, attempting to get it sorted or trying to get him back, no one has come back or bothered to call me. I am now having to get my own electrician out for safety reasons.

A few of my neighbours had to go through NHBC to get any response in relation to problems with their property. I just don't understand how Matthew Homes can run a business like this and not be held accountable.

Don't expect any customer service following the purchase of your new home. The managers are spineless as they never call you back. If they do initially agree to fix something don't expect them to actually follow it through. Never pay the full asking price as you'll be left to employ your own trades people to put right their bad bodge jobs. The plastering is a joke, the plumbing and carpentry aren't much better either.

You have to have a strong heart and be prepared to fight for what is yours if you are to purchase any property from this builder. Even the contractors who have been helpful say these are the worst company they've ever worked for.

Once you do employ your own trades people and spent a lot of money getting your home to a good satisfactory standard, no thanks to the builders, you'll have a lovely home.

Never buy a Matthew Homes property from new, always buy second hand as it'll be far less stressful!
